Independence and safety, hand in hand — without cameras in the room
At Áegis Living, we understand independence and safety go hand in hand. That’s why we’re proud to offer AUGi™ by Inspiren, an innovative AI-powered fall risk-reduction technology that provides an extra layer of protection while respecting your privacy and dignity.
A discreet device on the wall — not a camera in the room
Áegis is among only a handful of senior living organizations to implement true AI technology.
AUGi not only helps prevent falls but also monitors behavior trends and sleep patterns over time and flags changes, allowing us to identify new issues and refine resident care plans.
How it Works
AUGi is a wall-mounted smart device that uses AI technology to sense your movements. It alerts our care team when there may be a fall risk (like when you are getting out of bed or a chair), or in the event a fall has already occurred. This enables us to immediately respond and provide assistance.
Prevent, respond, learn
Prevent
Gently recognizes moments that may need a hand — sitting up at the bed edge, an unsteady transfer — and alerts the care team so they can offer support early.
Respond
If a resident does take a fall, AUGi senses it and sends an immediate alert — so a caregiver is there to help right away.
Learn
Gentle insights into sleep and nighttime activity help our nurses thoughtfully refine each resident's personalized care plan over time.
Privacy First, Always
Your privacy is our priority. Unlike traditional cameras, AUGi is a sophisticated HIPAA-compliant technology that never displays or stores clear images. Residents appear as stick figures, apartment details are blurred to ensure privacy, and only authorized care team members get alerted when movement patterns suggest fall risk. Residents can turn on a temporary “virtual curtain” when they want additional privacy.
Proven Results
- 50%Decrease in resident falls
According to Inspiren, the makers of AUGi, senior living communities using the technology have experienced remarkable improvements in resident safety:
- 80%Decrease in falls with injury
- 60%Decrease in hospitalization (reported by Inspiren)
How AUGi Protects You

Proactive 24/7 Support
Alerts our care team before potential incidents occur

Swift Response
Enables immediate assistance during higher-risk moments

Ongoing Support

Your Safety, Your Choice
AUGi activation is completely optional. You can choose to activate or deactivate the system at any time, giving you full control over your care experience.
Why fall prevention matters
Each year, there are about 3 million emergency-department visits for older-adult falls (CDC, 2023), and one in five falls leads to a more serious injury (NIA, 2022). The good news: thoughtful prevention makes a real difference.
AUGi is one layer within a broader, caring approach — welcoming design, therapy, medication review, and human attention. Technology extends a caregiver's senses, and a familiar, friendly face is still the one who walks through the door.
About one in four adults 65 and older experiences a fall each year — which is exactly why thoughtful prevention and quick, caring support matter so much.

What is AUGi and how does it work?
AUGi is a cutting-edge smart device mounted on your apartment wall that notifies your care team if it detects a safety concern.
- AUGi alerts your care team when you get out of bed or a chair, giving them valuable time to assist or intervene during higher-risk moments.
- It uses multiple sensors and intelligent software to monitor activity in your apartment. If it detects unusual activity, such as getting out of bed unassisted at night, AUGi notifies your care team of a potential issue.
- If AUGi identifies movement patterns that suggest a fall (e.g., lying on the floor), it automatically alerts the care team for immediate action.
While AUGi is not a medical device, it’s an advanced technology platform supporting Áegis Living’s ongoing commitment to your safety and well-being.
This innovative system was developed by Inspiren, a nurse-led organization dedicated to enhancing the safety of older adults through technology.
How does AUGi protect my privacy?
Your privacy is as important to us as your safety. AUGi was designed with both in mind:
- It collects only the minimum data necessary to promote your safety.
- Unlike traditional video cameras, AUGi does not capture clear images of activity. Residents appear as stick figures, and apartment details are blurred to ensure privacy.
- AUGi transmits summary information only, which is accessible exclusively to authorized Áegis team members. No one can see detailed activity within your apartment.
What happens to the data collected by AUGi?
AUGi does not store clear images and protects your privacy by maintaining only blurred visuals. All data is shared solely with your Áegis caregiving team. AUGi is HIPAA-compliant.
Key details retained in AUGi’s alert summaries include:
- Time and date of the alert
- Location of the alert
- A brief description of the alert (e.g., lying on the floor, getting out of bed)
- A de-identified, blurred version of the image captured at the time of the alert
Áegis Living retains this information as required by local laws and regulations. Additionally, Inspiren may use de-identified data to train and improve the AUGi system. Áegis Living and Inspiren strictly comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing data use and privacy.
